Nitin is the Managing Partner of Agama Law Associates (“Agama”).

Nitin comes with a rich experience of over a decade as an in-house lawyer as well as a practicing professional. Because of his extensive experience in handling transactional, advisory, governance and compliance matters, Nitin has an exceptional understanding of the nuances faced by clients and their expectations from legal services professionals.

Nitin’s principal focus is on commercial disputes. Nitin arrives at strategies for handling client litigation with a long term vision and value proposition ensuring cost effectiveness. Nitin’s keen eye for litigation has proven result oriented for various clients. Nitin and Team have achieved a an 80% rate of concluding client litigation, whether it is a complex arbitration or other commercial litigation, within a short span of 12-18 months. He has been instrumental in successfully achieving substantial recovery of client outstandings as well as defence of claims of approximately INR 100 Crores by advising right steps from the inception of the dispute.

Nitin has actively assisted clients not only in identifying pain points in running their businesses but also in identifying solutions as well as providing support through pre-dispute advisory work for dispute avoidance and management. Nitin has also been instrumental in streamlining client practices, consolidating and managing client litigations as well as pan-India business set up or establishment.

Nitin started his career by practising in the Bombay High Court, and moved on to more challenging roles in the inhouse legal departments of two of the biggest Indian multinational companies.

As an in-house lawyer in TATA Chemicals and Mahindra Group, he had been responsible for inbound and outbound mergers and acquisitions; strategizing for litigation matters pertaining to commercial, civil, criminal, white collar crimes, employment as well as for arbitration matters; advised on contracts, compliances and documentation; and managed the legal affairs of the company. He has gained experience in diverse industries and has acquired in-depth expertise in laws relating to Logistics, Automobiles, Chemicals, Food and Real Estate sectors.

Nitin has recently been recognised by “India Business Law Journal” as one of India’s top lawyers and a member of the prestigious A-List for 2022-23. Nitin has also been instrumental in implementing an entire new compliance system nationally for TATA Chemicals in his role as the company’s Legal Counsel, and his team along with him had been awarded the Star Legal Team Award in the 2016-17. While he was handling the legal department of Mahindra Logistics, he was awarded and recognised for his “Exceptional Contribution” by the executive team. His most recent achievement includes being recognised as a winner of the 40 Under 40 Rising Stars of 2017 in the LegalEra Awards 2016-17.

Nitin routinely authors articles to share his views and insights on laws and the legal profession. Amongst his various published works, “The ever evolving role of the New Age Lawyer” and “Compliance & Ethics – A Journey & Not Destination” was published by Enchiridion Publication in their 2016 and 2017 Editions respectively.

Nitin completed his B.L.S, LL.B from the Government Law College in 2007 and his LL.M from the University of Mumbai in 2009. He also holds PG Diplomas in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Securities Laws and a Diploma in Cyber Laws.
